St Charles Pilgrimage 2008

During the first week of April this year a group of 43 pilgrims from St Charles Borromeo, Hull, and surrounding parishes joined together with Canon Michael Loughlin and Fr Stephen Maughan for a memorable journey to Italy, organised by Malcolm and Jean Campbell.

The group visited Arona, his birthplace, with its imposing statue of St Charles, before moving on to Milan where they were fortunate enough to celebrate Mass at the tomb of St Charles. They travelled on to Rome, where they were able to celebrate Mass in the crypt of St Peter’s and the chapel of Our Lady at the Basilica of Mary Major, as well as joining the 60,000 pilgrims for the Mass celebrated by the Holy Father on the anniversary of the death of John Paul II. Superb guides in both Milan and Rome enabled the group to see so much of both cities in a short time. A fabulous time was had by all and the group came back grateful for the many graces and blessings received.
