When I arrived back from my holidays in Ireland last Friday, the first news I received was of Peter’s death. I was stunned at how quickly he had left us - and no opportunity to say ‘farewell’. The week before my holidays I rang Peter to make arrangements to visit him at the beginning of August - but he discouraged me - he was tired and unwell. The therapy he had been receiving had been discontinued. The signs were not good. His life was ebbing away. Read More

It is with feelings of profound sadness that we record the untimely death of Mary Crotty Bryan (age 52), of Kilrossanty, Co. Waterford and Thornaby. Mary passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Thursday 24th January in Waterford Regional Hospital. We can all take comfort from the knowledge that she was surrounded by her husband and family. When I was telephoned within a few hours of his death that Bishop Augustine had gone from this world, to a life we pray which has no end, those words with which I began only a moment ago, from the Prophet Isaiah came into my mind, for I believe they sum up an outstanding Bishop, a vigilant Bishop, posted as it were by the Lord to look around and see by day and by night what was to be done as the Lord’s watchman, and to do it gladly.
