The Inauguration of a new Catenian Circle took place at Scotch Corner Hotel on the 31st May. Hambleton Circle was inaugurated as the first new circle in the second century of the Catenian Association. This worldwide movement began 100 years ago in Manchester and continues to grow and prosper. Hambleton made a little bit of history in being honoured as the first circle and will be followed late in the year by a new circle in Australia. Read More
David Taylor was installed as the Grand President of the Catenian Association at the Grand Council Meeting in Manchester on Thursday 15th May. 2008 is the Centenary for the Catenians, having been formed in Manchester in 1908. David is the 79th Grand President and will commence his Presidency by visiting the grave of the Founder Grand President, John O’Donnell, in Mostyn cemetery, the grave having been restored by the Association as a mark of respect for its founder. Worldwide Catholic Organisation moves into its second century by forming a new circle in North Yorkshire
The Catenian Association is an international brotherhood of Catholic men who believe in strengthening family life through friendship and faith. The Catenians were founded in Manchester in 1908 and today have a membership of 10,000 business and professional men in Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia.To coincide with the start of the new century, a new circle is being inaugurated in North Yorkshire covering both Richmondshire and a large part of Hambleton. Plaque on Ouse Bridge York to St Margaret Clitherow arranged by Knights of St Columba.
Bishop Terence Drainey of Middlesbrough is to unveil a plaque to St Margaret Clitherow at the Micklegate end of Ouse Bridge in York on Friday 29th August at 3.30pm. This will be close to the place where St Margaret was martyred on 25th March 1586. This has been arranged by Council 95 (Province 5) of the Knights of St Columba. Read More
