    The Mike McCullagh Memorial Cup, which is awarded for ‘excellence’ in respect of entry to, and participation in, the diocesan football tournament the ‘Catholic Primary Schools Cup’ has been won this year by St Clare’s, Middlesbrough.

  • Excellent results at St Martin’s School

    St Martin’s Ampleforth Prep School are very proud of their Year 8 pupils who have achieved the best scholarship and Common Entrance results in living memory. Fr Gabriel, the Headmaster at Ampleforth College, described the results as ‘excellent‘ and is looking forward to welcoming so many talented and able pupils to the College this September.

  • Celebrating 40 years of St Clare’s School

    Parents, children, governors, teachers past and present, and parishioners turned out at St Clare’s School in Middlesbrough to welcome Bishop Terry, who celebrated Mass with Fr John Loughlin (parish priest) and Fr Gerard Robinson (former pupil) on the occasion of the school’s 40th anniversary.

  • Opening of the Savill Centre

    Thanks to the generosity of former pupil and current parent, Peter Savill, St Martin’s Ampleforth were able to open the impressive newly constructed ‘Savill Centre’, a specially designed five classroom teaching suite. This impressive new high tech facility will be used primarily for teaching English, French and Latin to Years 6, 7 and 8.

  • Love in Truth in Action in Ingleby Barwick

    Accepting a very kind invitation from the headteacher Mrs Alexander-Sowa to a post-Pentecost celebration in her school, I found myself along with many parents in St Therese of Lisieux School, Ingleby Barwick looking forward to the opportunity to ‘really experience the Holy Spirit in the children’s performance’. We were certainly not disappointed.

  • St Benedict’s, Redcar do the double!

    The 14th Annual Football Tournament for primary schools in the Diocese was held at St Mary’s Sports College, Cranbrook Avenue, Hull on Saturday 22nd May 2010. This was the fourth time that the event had been held in Hull (St Mary’s 02, 07 and 2010 and St Richard’s, Hull 1999).
