On Sunday 22nd September 2008 Canon Eddie Gubbins led a one day pilgrimage to Pantasaph, north Wales to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the death of Padre Pio, 70+ pilgrims from across the parishes of Middlesbrough, Redcar and Stockton travelled to the Welsh National Shrine and met up with Fr Aelred Coleman (from Middlesbrough) a member of the Capuchin community before travelling to the nearby shrine of St Winifred’s Well to ‘bathe’ in the healing waters.

St Winifred’s Well has been described as ‘The Lourdes of Wales’.

Each month during the summer 5,000 to 6,000 pilgrims visit Holywell and the holy well.

Thanks to Rory and Barney Connelly for the organising of the event.
