They now have their own sword dancing team, resurrecting an ancient tradition that was once popular all over the north of England. They performed for the first time at the School Summer Fayre. Team Leader, Mrs Margaret Starr, said she was thrilled with the pupils’ response. ‘I got my swords down from the attic, blew off the dust and enjoyed teaching the pupils one of the traditional ritual dances.’

Following the sword dancing spectacle, the School held an International Day. The children enjoyed making and sampling foods from France, Italy and Poland. They learned about different cultures and even enjoyed a Salsa Dance class. After a concert and special assembly, there was a collection for CAFOD.
