St Therese of Lisieux

At the invitation of the Bishops, the Relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux – an important Catholic saint – are visiting England and Wales (September – October 2009).

St Thérèse was drawn to God from a very young age and was only 15 when she entered a Carmelite convent. She lived a life of humility and simplicity, living out her “little way of spiritual childhood” with the community. Her short life was also one of suffering and she died of tuberculosis in 1897 at the age of 24.

The Mission of St Thérèse

Pope Pius X declared her “The Greatest Saint of modern times.” Although she lived a very hidden life, her writings, published after her death in every language, had a universal appeal. Click here to read Sr Cecilia’s on the mission of St Thérèse
