The Latin Mass Society

The Latin Mass Society is principally a lay organisation, although it does have many members who are priests; and is active in every diocese in England and Wales. Its purpose is to promote the use of the old form of the Mass (i.e. that promulgated by Pope St. Pius V following the Council of Trent and last revised in 1962).
In the Middlesbrough Diocese, there are regular Masses at York and Middlesbrough in the older form, as well as occasional ones elsewhere. Other activities of the Society, in accord with the Magisterium, include the promotion of benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, teaching Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony, and the encouragement of traditional devotions such as the recitation of the Rosary.
