The Second Lourdes Hospitalité Summer Ball

The Second Lourdes Hospitalité Summer Ball took place on Friday 31st August at the Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough. It was attended by 171 guests who were served with a welcome drink, a tremendous three course meal followed by coffee, and a superb night of live entertainment supplied by Jeremy McMurray and friends supported by Evelyn from Scarborough (Holly, Beth and Emma) who many of you will have heard before, performing at Pope Idol and the last two Summertime Special shows. The live music was supported by a fantastic disco, hosted by Mark Fearnley, who had music for everyone.

The evening commenced with a brief introduction from Father Paul Farrer who supported us through the evening. This was followed by Grace delivered by Father Derek Turnham. The evening included a bottle tombola and various other fundraising games along with a raffle for some very good prizes, including holiday accommodation in both Spain and Scotland and a return Flight to Lourdes.

A total of £3,502 was raised through the event.

The feedback has been excellent and an enjoyable evening was had by all, some of the comments follow:

“What a fantastic evening!!! Everyone had a great big smile on their faces all night long and it was no wonder. Dottie and I can’t possibly thank everyone enough who were involved in the planning and execution of a truly magnificent evening’s entertainment.”

“I had a fab night and love to all my friends – highlight of my August!”

“Thank you to everyone involved. It was my first Lourdes Ball and even if I can’t get to Lourdes myself I’ll continue to support through this event. As someone said last night ‘we had a cracking time!’”

The Middlesbrough Lourdes Hospitalité thanks everyone that supported and attended which enabled the event to be such a success for the second year running. Just means we have to keep up the good work to make it even better next year.

The next Hospitalité event planned was a race night to be held on 5th October at St Thomas More. Unfortunately this clashes with Father Keogh’s leaving party at the Marton Country Club so it has been postponed until a later date. Please watch out for a new published date shortly.

Thanks again for all your support
