Exploring Catholicism

Enquiring about and journeying on the road towards becoming Catholic is known as The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). RCIA is the liturgical and catechetical process designed for adults attracted by Christ and his teaching. It supports them as they seek to respond more deeply and to enter into the Communion of the Church.

Enquiries about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults should be made to Deacon David Cross here.

Key dates for 2020 are:

Saturday 1 February is our RCIA Retreat Day at Our Lady’s, Gale Lane, Acomb YO24 3AE. 11.30am to 3.00pm. The day is for anyone who may be thinking about the Catholic Faith and for those who are part of a parish RCIA team.

Sunday 1 March at 3.00pm,  Rite of Election at our Cathedral. This is for those who are preparing for initiation into the church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at Easter. This is the second step in the journey of faith for those who are becoming members of the church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
