Bishop Terry Announces Clergy Moves

Bishop Terry has announced a number of clergy moves in our diocese.

Father Albert Schembri has moved from St Mary’s Cathedral to become parish priest of Our Lady and St Peter, Bridlington.

Father Paul Dowling is moving to Blessed Nicholas Postgate, Redcar, as assistant priest alongside Canon Derek Turnham.

Father Philip Cunnah, priest-secretary to Bishop Terry, is to become parish priest of St Paulinus, Guisborough, as Canon Michael Bayldon steps down from pastoral ministry.

“I would like to thank all concerned for their generosity and kind cooperation in these matters,” said Bishop Terry.

“May I take the opportunity of thanking Canon Bayldon for his years of service in St Paulinus and especially for his energetic and imaginative contributions in the building of the new church.

“We pray that he enjoys a long and blessed time as he steps down from full time pastoral ministry.

“Also, I would like to thank Father John Wood and assure him of our prayerful support as he recuperates from his very serious accident.”
