Job Opening For Buildings And Environmental Surveyor

The Diocese of Middlesbrough is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and appropriately qualified Building and Environmental Surveyor to work within the Diocesan Buildings Department.

The office holder will play a key role in promoting the vision of the Bishop of Middlesbrough to put environmental matters at the heart of all diocesan operations.

This will be achieved in part by developing and implementing an effective strategy for decarbonising the parish and curia building stock across the diocese.

Working under the guidance of the Diocesan Property Manager, the key objectives of the role are to:

  • Conduct EPCs on parish and diocesan buildings and advise on energy saving measures
  • Conduct quinquennial inspections in parish and diocesan buildings
  • Prepare scope of work documentation and drawings for minor works advocating sustainable construction and energy saving measures
  • Be the point of contact for building repairs and tenants’ issues in the diocesan rental property portfolio and
  • Develop and implement the diocesan decarbonisation strategy.

It is envisaged that the office holder will be the key diocesan contact and representative in sharing best practice in decarbonisation with other dioceses nationally.

The Diocese of Middlesbrough extends from Middlesbrough in the north to Hull in the south and includes York. Extensive travel in the diocese will be required and applicants must hold a UK driving licence and have use of a car.
