New President for Wetherby’s Catenians

The April meeting of Wetherby Catenians marked the end of one Catenian year and the inception of their new year. To succeed the outgoing President, former printing executive David Barker, the members appointed the distinguished senior member Frank Rowett who has held Catenian office in York and Wetherby Circles.

After his schooling at St Michael’s College, Leeds and Farnborough Salesian College, he spent his National Service in Greece. Frank then took up a career in the entertainment business where he met and lunched with Laurel and Hardy and their wives. He later arranged the first public concert of the John Barry Seven (author of James Bond film music). Frank moved into catering trade management and after many years, eventually turned to education where he became a successful tutor in business studies. He is now a freelance lecturer in Strategic Marketing and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Marketing.

In his presidential year, Frank looks forward to renewing old Catenian friends and making new ones as well as promoting the benefits of membership of the Catenian Association.
