The York Knights of St Columba have already raised over £800 for Smile Train. This is a charity which arranges free operations on children in the developing world who have cleft lips or palates. This included collections at the York Minister Mass and the Mass at Fairfax House. However, a stunning £586 was collected by the parishioners of English Martyrs, York (Parish Priest, Fr Dominique Minskip). A further collection is scheduled at St Wilfrid’s, York and two other Churches in York have been approached.
It is hoped to have a performance of the Messiah in English Martyrs, York, in late November or early December with the proceeds going to Smile Train.
