Four Square Behind Bridlington Parish

It is not unique but certainly quite rare for a family to have all their four children to be all of them boys, and all altar servers. This is the case for one family who are parishioners at Our Lady and St Peter in Bridlington.

The latest ‘recruit’ is Dominic, who recently made his first Holy Communion. He joins his brothers Nathan, Nicholas and Christopher. The two eldest servers have to ‘fit in’ their serving duties with home visits from their studies at Ampleforth, while the two youngest are at a more convenient location for altar serving at the local St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.

Their mother, Belinda, said

‘I am so pleased that all four boys have wanted to serve on the altar. It has given them confidence in themselves and it is a way of giving something back to the parish that has supported us in many ways. It is a wonderful parish and so the boys take their serving duties very seriously.’

All four young men are part of a very committed group of altar servers at Bridlington that include several girls and number about fifteen in total.
