Following wide consultation and the co-ordination of the experiences of catechists, youth workers and parish priests, Middlesbrough Diocese has prepared and published a completely original Confirmation Programme for candidates who are between 12–16 years old. Initial trials of the different sections of the programme, I am Confirmed, received an enthusiastic welcome from both users and candidates.
The I am Confirmed programme is grounded in Scripture and linked to the Catechism throughout. The style and content are totally appropriate to the lives of our young people. It is clear, practical, and addresses the pertinent and challenging issues that can arise during Confirmation preparation today.
Authors, Canon John Lumley, Fr Paul Farrer and school chaplain, Laura Cutler have now responded to a growing number of enquiries by producing both a Leader’s Guide for the complete programme and also a popular candidate’s magazine which complements the programme. Bishop Terry Drainey has given his full support to the project by fully funding the production of the material.
Middlesbrough Diocese now plan to make I am Confirmed Confirmation programme available to other Dioceses, schools and catechists who are seeking a fresh approach to their preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. For further details and information see www.iamconfirmed.co.uk or contact:
