Laetare, Rejoice Sunday, and rejoice we did. It was a very special occasion for Maureen and Les Roberts, parishioners of St. Augustine’s Church, Redcar as they celebrated their Golden Wedding, 50 very full years of marriage.

Being a quiet retiring pair they kept the information a secret, however, they were surprised by being called forward after Mass for a very special blessing performed by Canon John Lumley and a presentation from friends of 2 Golden Wedding roses, a standard and shrub rose planted in a terracotta pot, other private gifts, a celebration cake and of course good Catholic wine and nibbles. Though very surprised they thoroughly enjoyed the evening which was an enriching experience for our whole community. God Bless you both.
