The Franciscans of Richmond

The midweek launch of the 750th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Franciscan Friary in Richmond, North Yorkshire took place in March, with an informal ecumenical service in the ruined chancel of the Friary Church and was attended by over 40 people. The celebration activities may be viewed on the web at www.richmond.org and an information pack is available, by post. Write and send three second class stamps to myself at Joiners Cottage, High Green, Catterick, North Yorkshire, DL10 7LN.

Fr Dan O’Neill led the prayers, concluding with the ‘Our Father’ and invitation to all present to hold the hand of those on each side. A prayer for peace was offered by the Rev Alan Coustick from the Methodist Church and a prayer was also offered by David Rivers of the Pentecostal Church. As an Anglican, Ann Simpson also spoke about the event.
