A book of condolence has been opened at the Bar Convent in York for Sister Ann Stafford CJ, who died on Thursday September 24 while visiting family in Ireland.
Sister Ann, who was mother superior of the Congregation of Jesus at the Bar Convent, was a much-loved figure in the diocese and will be sadly missed.
A spokesperson for the Bar Convent said: “Sister Ann had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and important and her warmth, kindness and joyful spirit touched countless lives across our community.
“She was a cherished friend to so many of us, and her loss will be felt deeply by all at the Bar Convent and in the Congregation of Jesus.
“Although we are deeply grieved by her loss, we take great comfort in knowing she was surrounded by her beloved family, whom she was so looking forward to seeing.”
Sister Ann’s Requiem Mass took place in the Dominican Church in Newbridge, County Kildare, where she was buried alongside beloved parents.
You do not need to book a time or speak to anyone to sign the book of condolence, which is in the Bar Convent chapel.
A memorial service will be held in York at a later date.
