St. Martin’s Ampleforth Prep School will be hosting a Chorister for a Day event on Saturday November 17th 2007 in conjunction with Ampleforth Abbey.

The day will start at 11.00 a.m. at Gilling Castle, Gilling East, York and will finish with everyone who is taking part singing Evensong with the choristers from St. Martin’s Ampleforth at 4.00 p.m. in the beautiful Ampleforth Abbey Church. This event is open to all children aged 7 to 10 and is aimed at children who just enjoy singing, as well as those who are already members of church or school choirs. All the music will be taught on the day.

In the last couple of years St. Martin’s Ampleforth and Ampleforth College have run a number of extremely successful outreach singing concerts with local primary schools. These have ranged from choral singing to putting on a musical in a day.
