After 700 baptisms, 600 funerals and 180 weddings, Fr Michael White has certainly earned his retirement. Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail he said ‘My time here has absolutely flown by. It’s hard to believe I have been here 33 years. I remember my first Sunday here vividly and I was absolutely terrified. For the first six months I couldn’t settle and wanted to leave. But the people have been so good and here I am still. Being a parish priest is a huge responsibility. It’s very challenging and you sometimes wonder how you’ll cope. But the support of the congregation makes it so easy.’
Fr White added ‘I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to the people who have supported me here and I will ensure them of my ongoing remembrance in prayer.’
