or Holy Hour between 7 and 18 December 2009
The UN leaders meet in Copenhagen from 7 to 18 December to broker a Climate Change agreement to replace the Kyoto protocol. It’s vital that they come up with the right kind of deal that will:
- Recognise and support the right to sustainable development for people in developing countries.
- To make available sufficient and secure funding and technical support from industrialised countries to help developing countries to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
- At least a 30-40% cut in greenhouse gas emissions by industrialised countries by 2020 based on 1990 levels.
Would you consider holding a prayer vigil or holy hour in your parish during the Climate Change talks to pray for world leaders as they deliberate and negotiate?
It’s crucial that, as a Christian community, we pray and act together. Our sisters and brothers in some of the most vulnerable parts of the world are depending on us. Let us watch and pray together for Climate Justice between 7 and 18 December.
