The new All Weather Floodlit Astroturf Pitch at St Martin’s Ampleforth Prep School was solemnly blessed and officially opened by Fr Abbot Cuthbert Madden of Ampleforth Abbey on Saturday 24th May 2008.
The new pitch is to be named the Nelson Field after the late Lord Henry Nelson of Stafford who was Chairman of the St Martin’s Trustees for many years. The ceremony was attended by Lady Nelson of Stafford and other members of Lord Nelson’s family.
