During the week of preparation for Pentecost and the Global Day of Prayer, churches of all kinds throughout York took part in a chain of prayer.
English Martyrs’ turn was from Thursday evening through Friday, with creative prayer-stations around the church, ending with a Holy Hour led by the children’s and youth groups. After evening psalms, the children acted the York Mystery Play of Pentecost, followed by a text from St Cyprian of Carthage, and Benediction. Finally, the congregation adjourned to the parish garden and enjoyed a barbecue supper.
