Following the canonisation of Carlo Acutis earlier this month, the parish of St Peter’s in Scarborough is preparing to welcome the relics of the young saint for a very special visit.
St Carlo, who died at the age of 15 in 2006, is widely celebrated for his profound devotion to the Catholic faith and the Eucharist.
He is especially known for creating a groundbreaking website documenting Eucharistic miracles around the world, which was the focus of an exhibition hosted by Scarborough Catholic parishes in 2019.
Thousands of people gathered in St Peter’s Square for the canonisation ceremony, which was presided over by Pope Leo.
Anna Johnstone, governess to Carlo’s family, will bring a first-class relic of the London-born saint.
During the visit, there will be opportunities for Mass, Eucharistic Adoration and veneration of the relic. In addition, local schools will host educational visits to help young people learn about Carlo’s inspiring life and witness of holiness.
This special visit offers parishioners and the wider community a unique chance to encounter the legacy of a saint who embraced modern technology to deepen faith and encourage devotion to the Eucharist.
The visit is from Saturday September 20 to Tuesday September 23. For more details about the visit and related events, see the programme below or visit scarboroughcatholicparishes.org.uk.
