Pupils from Years 3, 4 and 5, at St Martin’s Ampleforth Prep School, held their own Olympic torch procession this week as they performed their play, ‘The Ancient Olympics’. This true story is about a woman, Callipateira, who disguises herself as a male trainer in order to be a part of the Olympics, but is not punished because her father, her brothers and her son had all been victorious at Olympia.
The pupils were delighted that the Daltons, the authors of The Ancient Olympics and the founders of Educational Musicals, were able to attend their performance on Saturday 10th May.
‘I really liked the fact that the story was old but the jokes were really funny and up-to-date’ said Oscar.
