Fr Anselm Cramer, the Monastic Archivist at Ampleforth Abbey has written a new book entitled ‘Gilling Castle, The Story of the House and its Families’.
The book starts, as it should, with the first family the Ettons who started building Gilling Castle between 1350 and 1390, the story continues to the present day and the school that now occupies the Castle.
