One hundred and fifty four people from St Andrew’s Parish, Teesville, travelled back in time to Edwardian England for a Family Day Out with a difference – a taste of an old fashioned Christmas at Beamish.
The time travellers included people of all ages from across the parish. A reduced entrance fee was negotiated with Beamish, while the cost of the three coaches was paid for by the parish, thus keeping the cost down for families.
The day out gave people a chance to go ice skating, visit craft stalls, listen to a brass band playing Christmas Carols in the bandstand while eating chestnuts roasted on an open fire, ride on trams brightly decorated with Christmas lights and not forgetting a visit to Father Christmas as well as all the usual Beamish attractions.
