Young Parishioners win a Prize

Fantastic news! A team of five young parishioners from Our Lady and St Peter’s in Bridlington have won a prize to Paris. The ‘Seaside Sparklers’ as they are known took part in the Humberside Police Lifestyle Challenge. The aim of the competition is to make a difference in the local community.

During their activities, they devised a children’s safety leaflet, distributing 1,000 to locals and visitors to the town, raised money for the RNLI, Guide Dogs, Teenage Cancer Trust and Cash for Kids charities. The team accompanied the SVP on visits to the elderly in care homes. They also worked alongside adults with learning disabilities at the Outreach project based at Sewerby Hall and Gardens. The team found time to design some artwork. The Poppy landscape which they created was presented to the Royal British Legion Convalescent Home.

The ‘Seaside Sparklers’ discovered the news that they had won a prize when they attended the presentation ceremony in November. Canon David Grant and parishioners were extremely supportive to the team during the competition.
