Water poverty and a celebration of CAFOD’s 60th birthday are the topics of two Zoom events being hosted by the National Board of Catholic Women (NBCW) this week.
Living Water sees Dr Mary Mather, Patricia Stoat, from the NBCW and Lucy Jardine of CAFOD talking about water poverty in the run up to COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference.
One in three people worldwide have little access to clean water. But the organisers say it’s not just a question of fundraising for wells and water pumps – the economics and politics of water access needs to be addressed at world level.
The event takes place this Friday (June 11) from 7pm to 8.30pm.

At 11.15am the following day, Saturday June 12, the NBCW will help Catholic charity CAFOD celebrate its 60 years of helping those in need overseas.
CAFOD was inspired by the first Family Fast Day, the result of a collaboration between the NBCW, the Catholic Women’s League and the Union of Catholic Mothers.
CAFOD director Christine Allen and Sister Frances Orchard, whose mother was involved 60 years ago, will talk about the history of Family Fast Day and CAFOD’s 60th anniversary plans.
