for the Dedication of Our Lady and St Chad, Kirkbymoorside

Our Lady and St Chad’s have celebrated the dedication of the Church recently together with the re-commissioning of the Bell installed in 2001 with a solemn High Mass.

It was concelebrated by Fr Edmund Hatton, Fr Alberic Stacpoole and the main celebrant being Fr Kentigern Hagan. Readings from the Book of Kings and St Paul to the Ephesians were ministered by Mrs Barbara Clark, the intercessions were prayed by Mr Gerald Dunwell. The entrance hymn ‘Christ is made our sure foundation’ was a fitting opening of the Mass. The Choir sang ‘Lord open thou my lips’ (Rachmaninov) and during Communion rendered two motets ‘Christ be with me’ and ‘Our Father’ (Rimsky-Korsakov). To the notes of ‘Now thank we all our God’ there was a solemn procession to close a memorable occasion.

The parish community then gathered in St Chad’s House to enjoy a wonderful buffet supper. The buzz of animated conversations added to the pleasure of the whole celebration.
