The Catholic Women’s League of England and Wales have been raising funds to help our injured Service personnel. Since October 2009 until October 2010, they have raised £81,210.73 through cake stalls, garden parties, 40s nights, appeals and coffee mornings.
The cheque was presented to David Gammell of Help for Heroes, who spoke to members at their Torquay National AGM Weekend, and now this year came back to Southport Conference Centre to receive our cheque from our retiring National President, Mrs Doreen Pooley, whose own grandson has just gone out to Afghanistan. Middlesbrough’s Diocesan Branch raised £4,105.77.
