The relics of St Columba, St Andrew and St Margaret will come to St Mary’s Cathedral in Middlesbrough for a special Mass on Friday September 1 at 7pm.
The visit is part of a tour organised by the Knights of St Columba.
St Columba of Iona was born in County Donegal and is regarded as one of the 12 Apostles of Ireland and carried Christianity to the farthest corners of Scotland.
St Andrew the Apostle, the elder brother of St Peter, was called by Jesus to become a “fisher of men”.
Although born in Hungary, St Margaret of Scotland was an English princess and a Scottish queen, who married Malcolm III of Scotland. She was canonised by Pope Innocent IV in 1250.
