Eleventh May 2008 was the beginning of the National Catholic Deaf Association’s Awareness Week. Different events and Masses were held during the Awareness Week throughout this country. Also on 11th May, the Catholic Deaf Association launched a new book called ‘A Child’s Book of Signed Prayers’. It is really a lovely little book which will help our deaf and hearing children to pray together in a simple signed prayer.
We would like to give thanks to the late Louise Johnson whose wish that the deaf children should benefit from her generosity. It has taken the Catholic Deaf Association several years to create a Signed Prayer book for deaf children to enable deaf children to have access to a prayer book in Sign Language.
Now, all the wait and hard work has been worthwhile. A special thanks to Cath Smith for her guidance and support, and for creating the beautiful signed pictures. We are sure that our deaf children and many hearing children, and also parents and teachers, will be thrilled with this beautiful book for children.

- Sorry Prayer
