Following a lot of hard work by students and staff, we were all finally rewarded with fantastic news when this summer’s GCSE results were published.

Emotions ran high on Thursday 21st August 2008 as the results gradually revealed that an incredible 69% of our students had achieved 5 or more GCSE passes at grades A*-C and 92% achieved 5 or more passes at grades A*-G. In total, 98% of our Year 11 students left St David’s College with at least 1 GCSE pass.

We were delighted to learn that for the second year running, another of our Year 11 students was amongst the highest scoring candidates in this summer’s examinations.

Andrew Lochrane sat the Manufacturing Double Award earlier this summer and the results, issued last month, showed that out of 1928 candidates, Andrew achieved one of the highest overall marks. Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel’s Managing Director, said ‘This is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work students put into preparing for their exams. We send our congratulations to Andrew.’ Of course, we also send our congratulations to Andrew and our Technology Department for this amazing achievement and we wish Andrew every success in the future. Well done Andrew!
