Bishop at St David’s Mass

A group of Davids from St David’s School, Middlesbrough, gather round Bishop Terry Drainey after a St David’s Day Mass at St Mary’s Cathedral, Middlesbrough. Member of staff David Cheshire, left, stands with a group of students with particular associations with the feast day.

The Cathedral was packed with 1,000 pupils and staff and the atmosphere ‘tremendous,’ said deputy head Charles Rhind.

The Mass’s theme was ‘set your hearts on fire by caring for others’. Bishop Drainey’s homily was based on the phrase ‘if only I had …’ when looking back on decisions like keeping my mouth shut or making more effort.’
