Bishop Terence Visits Sacred Heart School, Middlesbrough

The children and staff of Sacred Heart RC Primary were thrilled when Bishop Terence called in to see them recently.

Some of the children had never seen a real Bishop before and were delighted to see him wearing all his regalia during the assembly he conducted for them. He told them of his life before entering the Priesthood, and how he liked being a Bishop. He then asked the children if they had any questions to ask him, of course they had lots! Questions ranged from whether he had to work hard (yes), to why did his hat (Mitre) have two tails? (one for the Old Testament, one to represent the New Testament). All of the questions were taken seriously and Bishop Terence answered them all good humouredly.

It was lovely to welcome the new Bishop to our School; he was very approachable with a relaxed, easy manner, which made both the staff and children think that he was kind and approachable.

In Lower Key Stage 1, the children think that Bishop Terence ‘is nice and funny’ and not at all like their Bishop doll.
