Dr Maria Heath
Charismatic leader to speak at ADoRE retreat morning

Dr Maria Heath, leader of the country’s Catholic Charismatic Renewal service, will be the guest speaker at this month’s ADoRE mini-retreat morning for spiritual renewal.
This is the latest part of the Zoom course to inspire parish evangelisation, “Proclaim the Good News – we are called to be missionary disciples”, which runs until November, usually on the fourth Saturday of each month.
Dr Heath has been actively involved in the Church and Catholic Charismatic Renewal for 25 years. She is passionate about evangelisation and holds a doctorate exploring how parishes can become more missionary.
A gifted speaker, she communicates the gospel in inspiring and practical ways, seeking to encourage others in their call to evangelise.
The aim of this year’s ADoRE course is to develop participants’ understanding and appreciation of how every Catholic is to respond to Jesus’ call to share in his mission. Discovering how we are all anointed, inspired and empowered by the Holy Spirit to do as Jesus did: bring people into His Kingdom.
As Pope Francis said in the Joy of the Gospel: “In virtue of their baptism, all the members of the People of God have become missionary disciples (cf. Mt 28:19)…. The new evangelisation calls for personal involvement on the part of each of the baptised. Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelisation.”
The course runs for three hours on Saturday mornings and features talks by an outstanding selection of guest speakers: leaders in renewal with extensive experience in both practising and teaching on evangelisation.
They will give practical encouragement and advice on sharing the Good News in the parish. Each meeting also includes Mass, adoration, praise and worship and prayer.
It is not necessary to commit to all the sessions and there is no charge for participation. However, individuals must register for each meeting in advance and donations will be appreciated.
Also, it is not necessary to attend the whole three hours, as participants may join at any time.
This month’s session is on April 22 from 10am to 1pm and is all about receiving the anointing of the Holy Spirit, so we can have the inspiration and power to be involved with sharing the Good News of God’s Kingdom.
Participants should register in advance at bit.ly/ADOREAPR2023.
