Charismatic leader to speak at ADoRE retreat

Dr Maria Heath, leader of the country’s Catholic Charismatic Renewal Service, will be the guest speaker at April’s ADoRE mini-retreat morning for spiritual renewal.
This is the latest part of the Zoom course to inspire parish evangelisation – “Proclaim the Good News – we are called to be Missionary Disciples” – which is running until November, usually on the fourth Saturday of each month.
This month’s “ADoRE” is all about receiving the anointing of the Holy Spirit so we can have the inspiration and power to be involved with sharing the good news of God’s kingdom.
Dr Heath has been actively involved in the Church and Catholic Charismatic Renewal for 25 years.
A gifted speaker, she communicates the Gospel in inspiring and practical ways, seeking to encourage others in their call to evangelise.
The aim of this year’s ADoRE course is to develop participants’ understanding and appreciation of how every Catholic is to respond to Jesus’ call to share in his mission. Discovering how we are all anointed, inspired and empowered by the Holy Spirit to do what Jesus did – bring people into his kingdom.
As Pope Francis said in the Joy of the Gospel: “In virtue of their baptism, all the members of the People of God have become missionary disciples (cf Matthew 28:19)… The new evangelisation calls for personal involvement on the part of each of the baptised. Every Christian is challenged, here and now, to be actively engaged in evangelisation.”
The course runs for three hours on Saturday mornings and features talks by an outstanding selection of guest speakers: leaders in renewal with extensive experience in both practising and teaching on evangelisation.
Each meeting also includes Mass, Adoration, praise and worship and prayer.
It is not necessary to commit to all the sessions and there is no charge for participation. However, individuals must register for each meeting in advance and they welcome donations. Also, it isn’t necessary to attend the whole three hours and participants may join at any time.
People from all over the country have been enjoying the mini-retreat mornings.
One attendee said: “The ADoRE retreat punctuates the month in an uplifting way. It shows signs of life in the Church.
“The Mass is so reverent, adoration so significant, testimony so encouraging, the talk so profound, the group discussion energising. The words of knowledge are signs of the Holy Spirit at work. The time of worship fills my soul and I am renewed.”
ADoRE (Alton Day of Renewal) is a monthly meeting of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Formed in 1975, it is now one of the longest continually running Charismatic Days of Renewal in Britain, dedicated to the encouragement of a personal relationship with God, through Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit.
This month’s Zoom session is on Saturday April 22 from 10am to 1pm. Participants should register in advance at bit.ly/ADOREAPR2023.
