Eight years after Lauadato Si’, the Holy Father recently released Laudato Deum, a resource to get us thinking about Cop28, which takes place in December.
In this letter, Pope Francis goes to great pains to stress that not enough has been done in the wake of Laudato Si’ to tackle the impending climate change crisis.
With this in mind, the cathedral will host an event titled Creation Is Screaming At Us – Are We Listening? on Saturday December 9 from 10am to 12.30pm.
The event will give people the opportunity to reflect and pray with Laudate Deum to help discern what we can do individually and collectively to respond to the challenges posed by climate change.
It is our opportunity to respond to Pope Francis’ invitation to act, now!
The morning’s programme:
10am Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament (short extracts from Laudate Deum will be read meditatively)
10.30am Short overview of Laudato Si’ and Laudate Deum
10.50am Group discernment
11.20am Further input on Laudate Deum
11.50am Q&A with panel
12.20pm Closing prayer and departure
Please consider attending and making the event part of the preparations for Christmas.
