Forget Me Not

Claire and Mike Wren of St Bernadette’s parish to extend their thanks to Voice readers for their continuing support for the Fund set up in memory of their daughter Charlotte and for all the efforts to raise vital funds in her loving name and memory. They write,

‘The fundraising night at the Marton Hotel & Country Club on Friday 9th May 2008 raised a fantastic £3,489.10 which has helped to boost The Charlotte Wren Forget Me Not Fund by a staggering £38,308.67 for Leukaemia Research.

‘We send our love and appreciation to everyone who supported us at this fundraising night including all our family, friends, neighbours and parishioners who continue to steadfastly support and pray for us all. It is giving us much inspiration and great comfort to know that Charlotte’s name and memory is being cherished with such kindness, compassion and generosity of heart.

‘Since launching The Charlotte Wren Forget Me Not Fund in July 2007 many people have continued to take part in; Pink Princess Parties, wear pink to work and school days, Wickes weekend collections, Sponsored Walks, Runs, Slims, Hair cuts, silences and boxing day dips! amassing the brilliant total of over £38,000.

‘Equally we were able to present a cheque for £5,000 on Christmas Eve to Crawford House, Newcastle (donated by close family, friends, and the completion of Charlotte’s Story in a magazine article). This resulted in the sponsoring of a room in Charlotte’s name and loving memory for one year; providing free accommodation to lots of children, young people and their families fighting cancer, helping them to ‘stay together’ instead of having to travel to and from their own homes, at a time of increased adversity while receiving vital life giving treatment from the RVI, in Newcastle.

‘We are so very proud of everyone’s efforts and remarkable achievements; a true testament to everyone honouring Charlotte’s earthly legacy that continues to live on through the ‘positive’ actions of so many good people, coming together in recognition of our very special and brave little girl ‘Charlotte’ whose life was not measured by age but the fullness with which she lived it.

‘God’s Love and Blessings always.’
