All 500,000 tickets for the closing Mass World Meeting of Families 2018 in Dublin’s Phoenix Park on Sunday August 26 have been booked out.
Father Timothy Bartlett, secretary general of WMOF2018, said he wasn’t surprised at the huge level of interest in the event.
“Family is important to all of us,” he said. “People like what Pope Francis is saying about family and the Church.”
Father Bartlett appealed to those coming to the Mass to plan their journey well in advance.
“We are working with the Gardai and other authorities to make the WMOF2018 a joyful, welcoming and comfortable event,” he said.
“But it is vital everybody thinks through how they will get to and from the Mass, what they will bring with them in terms of seating, clothing and food.
The WMOF2018 is asking people to check parish and diocesan websites for updates and information between now and the events, which run from August 21 to 26.
They are also asking people to regularly check the public service information being provided at gov.ie/popeinireland.
A total of 116 countries are expected to be represented at the Mass, with 15,000 overseas visitors booking tickets.
