The John Bradburne Memorial Society (JBMS) is calling on individuals, parishes and communities to support its mission on World Leprosy Day (Sunday January 25).
This annual day of awareness shines a spotlight on the ongoing challenges faced by people affected by leprosy, a neglected tropical disease that continues to impact thousands worldwide.
The society is named in honour of Servant of God John Bradburne, who served for ten years as warden of the Mutemwa Leprosy Care Centre in Zimbabwe.
John Bradburne’s unwavering compassion, faith and dedication to those living with leprosy left a profound legacy.
Inspired by his life and witness, JBMS continues his work by supporting people affected by leprosy, raising awareness of the disease, and helping fund the ongoing operations of Mutemwa.
World Leprosy Day offers an important opportunity to highlight the stigma and discrimination that many people with leprosy still endure.
It is also a day to celebrate the courage and resilience of those living with the disease, and to honour the memory of John Bradburne, who devoted his life to caring for them.
“In the spirit of John Bradburne’s selfless devotion to those suffering from leprosy, we ask everyone to come together on World Leprosy Day to support this vital cause,” said Tim Brigstocke, chairman of John Bradburne Memorial Society.
“Your support can help us continue to care for those affected by leprosy living at Mutemwa.”
How you can help…
Donating: Contributions to JBMS go directly towards supporting the Mutemwa Leprosy Care Centre, where patients receive essential medical care, food, and shelter. Every donation, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference to lives affected by leprosy.
Raising awareness: JBMS encourages supporters to share information about World Leprosy Day and the work of the society with friends, family, parishes and communities, helping to challenge stigma and promote understanding.
Prayers: Pray for the people of Mutemwa and for all those around the world affected by leprosy, as well as prayers for the progress of John Bradburne’s cause for sainthood.
