New Canons for the Diocese of Middlesbrough were installed on Tuesday 1st March, the Feast of St David. Canons David Grant, John Loughlin, John Lumley and Gerard Robinson were accompanied by the Cathedral Chapter and the Council of Priests. They were installed by the new Provost, Very Rev Canon Michael Ryan, and Bishop Terence Patrick Drainey was the main celebrant at the Mass that followed.
Over 300 family, friends and parishioners gathered at the Cathedral to share in the celebration. Afterwards, the Cathedral staff provided a wonderful buffet lunch in a marquee in the grounds of the Cathedral. It was a beautiful sunny day for a blessed occasion and all enjoyed the celebrations.
