We are pleased to announce the election of Dr Christine Newman as National President of the Newman Association.
Christine has been a member of the Cleveland Newman Circle since 2000, serving as Circle Secretary from 2002-6. She was first elected to the National Council of the Newman Association in 2004. Christine is a historian by profession, employed by Durham University, where she is currently working on the Victoria County History of Durham. She is a foundation governor of St Mary’s College, Middlesbrough and a director of a charitable organisation founded to support victims of the sex-trafficking trade. She is a parishioner of Christ the King Church, Thornaby.
The Newman Association, founded in 1942, aims to further the mission to the world of the Christian religion with particular reference to the Roman Catholic Church and in the light of the work of the Venerable John Henry Newman. Open talks are arranged monthly at St Bernadetteís, Nunthorpe. All welcome.
