Inspectors have praised a Middlesbrough school for its strong Christian values and the keen community involvement of its pupils.
St Alphonsus’ RC Primary School in Cadogan Street, North Ormesby, was inspected by OFSTED in September and achieved the second highest rating possible – good.
In the report OFSTED said: ‘Its strong Christian values and high expectations enable pupils to flourish in their personal development and academic achievement.
‘They find learning exciting and most play a full and active part in the life of the School.
‘They are keen to be involved in community activities and are proud of the work they do to raise funds for charities, including the support they give to both their local church and to St Michael’s in Bolivia’.
In addition the inspection praised the School’s initiatives for helping less able pupils and those for whom English is not their first language and who soon take an active part in lessons.
The care provided by the School is described as ‘exceptional’, ensuring the children feel safe, secure and confident in the environment.
One parent told the inspectors: ‘It is a lovely school and I am pleased my child is part of it’.
