Opening For Chaplaincy Co-ordinator In Richmond

St Francis Xavier School in Richmond has a job opportunity for a school chaplaincy co-ordinator.

Part of the St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Academy Trust, St Francis Xavier is a joint Roman Catholic (Diocese of Middlesbrough) and Church of England (Diocese of Leeds) 11-to-16 mixed secondary school serving the picturesque market town of Richmond and the surrounding rural area.

The school was judged Outstanding both in the Section 5 Ofsted inspection (2012) and in the diocesan inspection (2018).

It is located close to the A1 and A66 and in commutable distance from York, Durham and Teesside. The school has an excellent reputation in the local community and is consistently oversubscribed.

Applications are welcome from both ordained and lay candidates from both denominations.

The role would suit someone who is passionate about working with young people to help them to recognise God’s love for them and their need for God. The successful candidate would lead a chaplaincy team and will be directly accountable to the associate assistant headteacher and senior leadership team.

You are welcome to visit the school (adhering to Covid-19 guidelines) before applying or to have an informal discussion. Contact the associate assistant headteacher and head of RE, Mrs Masterman at cmasterman@sfxschool.org.uk to book an appointment or arrange a telephone call.

The post is part-time (minimum of 30 hours per week) and permanent, with a salary scale grade G point 17 (currently £24,491 pa) paid pro rata. It is term time only (unless accompanying a group throughout a holiday period by mutual agreement between the post holder and the school) plus five days.

There will be flexibility to accommodate school events such as religious retreats or services.

The successful candidate will be required to start from September 2021.

Application forms and further details are available on the school’s website, sfxschool.org.uk.

Completed application forms should be submitted to contact@sfxschool.org.uk

The closing date is Wednesday April 28 at 9am and interviews will be held on Friday May 7.
