Sir John is Anthony Storey Memorial Lecture speaker

Wednesday May 13 at 7pm, via Zoom

“Hope in Turbulent Times”

Middlesbrough Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission is delighted to welcome Sir John Battle as this year’s speaker for the Anthony Storey Memorial Lecture.
John was MP for Leeds West for more than 20 years until he retired in 2010. Since then he has remained totally committed to his Leeds area and has gone on to be an active part of a number of community projects in West Leeds.
He is a leading anti-poverty campaigner and a trustee of Caritas Social Action Network, as well as several local Leeds charities, and he chairs the Leeds Diocesan Justice and Peace Commission.
He is also a columnist in our diocesan newspaper, the Catholic Voice.
This is a wonderful opportunity for people to experience John’s energy and enthusiasm and to benefit from his insight and wisdom and his commitment to the common good.
The title comes from a recognition of the current turbulent times we are living in and the importance of finding hope both within our communities and in wider society.
The lecture will be on Zoom at 7pm and we are repeating the timing of a weekday evening, which seems to work well.
To register for the lecture, email me at bhungin@yahoo.co.uk.
