History

There were Catholics in Kirbymoorside in the 18th Century and after 1800 some Kirby baptisms are recorded in the Ampleforth register. A school house was leased in 1868 and the present church site bought from Lord Haversham in 1893. The house was designed by the priest, Father Cuthbert Jackson, in 1896 and the church by Barnard Smith in 1897.
