The Sisters, Faithful Companions of Jesus would like to invite young women interested in religious life to Stella Maris, Broadstairs, Kent on 23rd – 25th May 2008.

Jesus invites us to share his mission …
committed to him,
walking faithfully with him
making his mission our mission
sent to proclaim the Good News by our lives.

This will be a time to reflection with other women who are considering the vocation to religious life.
There will be input on;

• the vows,
• discernment and decision making,
• prayer and ways of praying,
• and the particular way of life of the FCJ Sisters.

The weekend will include prayer, time for personal reflection and discussion.

We will be based in Stella Maris, one of our community houses, and there will be plenty of opportunity to meet with sisters in the community.

About the Faithful Companions of Jesus

‘We are an international congregation of religious sisters, living and working in 15 different countries. Our sisters work in a variety of ministries – teaching, chaplaincy, retreat work, nursing, development work etc and our spirituality follows that of St Ignatius of Loyola, (the founder of the Jesuits).

The name of our congregation, Faithful Companions of Jesus, really expresses our way of life best! We are called to be women who will be Jesus’ faithful companions in the world today, wherever that may take us!

Marie Madeleine, our Foundress, was deeply influenced by the words of Jesus from the cross; “I Thirst”. The Society that was founded by Marie Madeleine, almost two hundred years ago, continues to be inspired by her commitment and her ideals, to be with Jesus in his mission, responding to his thirst, spreading God’s love, especially through education, by accompanying people in their spiritual lives and by taking the Society to many parts of the world.

To be truly a companion urges us to take up the struggle to change the unjust structures which bind so many in our world today. As we hand over our lives to Jesus and to one another in companionship, to our world in mission and to creation in reverent relationship, we break wide open the reality of Eucharist. Above all we are Companions of Jesus whose lives long to reveal Jesus to the world. There is joy in living in our world, a holy place, in which we are privileged to discover and reveal the presence of the risen Christ.’
